FOR A MOTHER’S SOUL

As a young mom, I am constantly learning what it means to be a parent. I am discovering that it is a lifelong journey on which God carries us, loving and encouraging us every step of the way.

Handling the everyday ups and downs of motherhood while battling chronic illness is extremely challenging and humbling. Having limitations means I have to say no to some of my goals and dreams as a mother.

Through it all, whether on good or bad days, I’ve come to understand that relying on Christ means whatever I have to give is more than enough. He is my source and strength, the invisible presence in every room and the quiet whisper within my conversations.

Absorbing the Word of God feeds our souls and renews our minds. Through Him, we are enough. We can be exactly the moms our children need us to be. May the following Bible verses encourage you and be words of truth that will lift you up as you continue your parenting journey. May they be a balm for a mother’s soul.

SCRIPTURES TO ENCOURAGE YOUR HEART

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. (Isaiah 66:13 ESV)

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. (Proverbs 31:25)

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. (Proverbs 31:26 ESV)

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (Deuteronomy 6:6–7 ESV)

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” (Proverbs 31:28–29 ESV)

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:31)

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:13-14 ESV)

The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living. (Genesis 3:20 ESV)

You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. (1 Peter 3:4 NLT)

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. (Deuteronomy 4:9)

And His mother treasured up all these things in her heart. (Luke 2:51 ESV)

PRAYER FOR A MOTHER’S SOUL

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the privilege of being a mother. Thank You that we are all uniquely made by you. Thank You that You provide everything we need to do Your will in our current season of life, no matter what challenges lay before us.

Help us walk arm in arm with one another, encouraging each other as moms, not living in comparison but lifting each other up in love.

Fill us with Your hope, peace, and contentment, allowing us to be a light to our children and empowering us to guide them into Your loving embrace.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
