WHAT’S IN YOUR pocket?
When we give, God multiplies.
When we give what we have, where we are, with a cheerful heart, community deepens, strengthening the bonds between us and delighting the heart of God.
It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into the giving. Mother Teresa
God knows the heart behind the gift. He sees the sacrifice. He knows what each prayer, every act of service, and every single cent we give costs us. And when we give out of love for God, He is delighted!
In our hands, our little loaves and fish make a lovely lunch for one. But in the Hands of God, those same little loaves and fish can satisfy 5,000 with a dozen baskets of leftovers.
WHAT'S IN YOUR pocket?
This is our invitation to link arms with Chronic Joy, bringing whatever you have, however you’re called. Maybe you have:
- Two coins Mark 12:42
- A jar of olive oil 2 Kings 4:1-7
- Five little loaves and two fish John 6:5-13
- Willing hands 1 Peter 4:10 CEV
- A skill, hobby, or knowledge 2 Corinthians 9:11
- Time Proverbs 11:25
- Prayer Colossians 4:2
- An alabaster jar of perfume Mark 14:3-6
WHEN WE GIVE, GOD MULTIPLIES … AND DELIGHTS!
God delights when we give with a cheerful heart.
Liz Curtis Higgs writes, “When the Bible says, ‘God loves a cheerful giver’ 2 Corinthians 9:7, the word ‘cheerful’ comes from the Greek word hilarós—as in ‘hilarious.’ What’s the connection? When you make someone laugh, when they see the humor in what you’re saying … Their laughter becomes a gift, freely and joyfully given.”
GIVING DEEPENS COMMUNITY
When we each give what we have, together we are bolder, braver, and stronger.
God knows the heart behind our gifts. He sees our sacrifice. And He is delighted when we selflessly pour out for one another.
At Chronic Joy, we simply bring what we have, willing hearts and our simple loaves and fish, and God makes a way – every single day. In spite of illness. In spite of anxiety. In spite of daily pain. In spite of a spate of surgeries. In spite of overwhelming fatigue. In spite of all we don’t know and the skills we do not have.
In spite of our lack – or maybe precisely because of it – God makes a way, because Chronic Joy isn’t ours, it’s His.
From the beginning, many have sacrificially offered their hands, hearts, and gifts to this ministry:
- thousands of hours of donated time
- countless hours of prayer
- brainstorming, encouragement, and listening ears
- IT support and security
- database design and maintenance
- photography, videography, and graphic design
- willing hands to fold, stuff, stamp, and seal
- dozens of trips to the post office
- woodworking, interviews, and audio recordings
- financial gifts
- Chronic Joy has no paid staff
What does it mean to live a life of vibrant generosity, to give eagerly, and to become a heartbeat of hope for others?
God is the first and most generous giver. His unshakable generosity is a hallmark of His character. We love, because He first loved us. We give, because He radically and extravagantly gives to us.
Then He invites us to experience the life-giving grace of exceptional generosity.
Every time we give, it is a celebration of generosity, a selfless Heartbeat of Hope whose ripples flow from God’s heart through ours, changing the world one precious life at a time.
How have you experienced the remarkable generosity of God?
Where do you sense the Spirit’s tender nudge to give?
Who can you love and serve with your kindness, time, resources, patience, and gifts today?
How can you invest in your community through sacrificial generosity?
Is your generosity contagious?

PRAY FOR EACH OTHER
…pray for one another. James 5:16
In Matthew 18:20, Jesus says, “For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.”
The Chronic Joy Prayer Pond is where we gather to read through one another’s prayer requests, post one of our own, and lift our voices before the One who knows every word in our hearts before even one of them is on our tongues Psalm 139:4
“Never do [Christians] love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer.” Charles Finney

POSTS INSPIRING CREATIVE WAYS TO SERVE AND LOVE OTHERS
Kindness is love in action. It’s paying attention to the people right in front of you. It’s a heart of gentleness, generosity, and compassion intentionally poured out one precious life at a time.
A JOURNEY OF SURPRISES
O LORD, how many and varied are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your riches and Your creatures. Psalm 104:24 ISV
We were created to create, explore, and reflect the One who spoke it all into being: darkness and light, day and night, every hue in the spectrum, each galaxy stretched across the sky, every individual snowflake – the entire extravagance of creation before God scooped up the dust He had made and breathed the life into us.
God is a maker.
We create, simply and only, because our God creates. To be made in His image is to have within us the capacity for creativity.
Maybe what’s in your pocket is a creative art – music or poetry, woodworking or crocheting, pottery or painting. Maybe you love to knit and would like to donate a prayer shawl. Maybe you have a green thumb and could help a neighbor start a garden. Maybe you enjoy photography and would love to write a tutorial or donate an image.
Maybe whatever you are most passionate about is the very thing someone else would most love to learn.
Are you longing to lean a little deeper into the One who calls us to create? Would you like to give what you create?
