LOVE ONE ANOTHER • CREATIVE WAYS TO SERVE
A new command I give you:
Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another.
We serve one another in love every time we speak a word of encouragement, listen to a hurting heart, lend a helping hand, or compassionately meet a need. Each time we give of our wisdom, time, resources, and experience, we love one another like Jesus loves us.
Service is rooted in our love for God. Jesus pours out for us so that we can pour out for others. With chronic illness, serving in traditional ways can be difficult, but we were created by the One who spoke the universe into being … out of nothing.
And nothing about our God is “in the box.” He loves and meets us in radically creative ways every single day.
SERVING FROM A HEART OF LOVE
It isn’t how well we serve that’s important, but why. When we serve from a heart of love for Jesus, it is His love that moves our hands and gentles our hearts, speaks with kindness and compassion, and patiently engages with tenderhearted mercy.
Today, we invite you to “step out of the boat” of traditional service and listen for God’s still small Voice inviting you to serve one another in His way, out of His abundance, and for His delight and pleasure.
Serving reflects God’s love and points people to Jesus.
HOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER
Francis de Sales wrote, “There is nothing small in the service of God.”
From an earthly perspective, small things like:
- a cup of cold water given “to the least of these” refreshes Jesus Himself
- a simple lunch of bread and fish offered in childlike faith fed more than 5000
- faith as small as a mustard seed has the amazing power to move mountains
While we may no longer be able to serve in traditional or culturally familiar ways, today we invite you to discover creative new ways to love God and love others right where you are, however you are able.
Learn more about how you can serve today.
The door is open, Friend, and you are most warmly invited! We were created for community, and we are always #BetterTogether!

Teach me to pass it on, Lord, to show kindness and thankfulness even when I'm overwhelmed. A little bit of God’s joy makes a big difference in a day.
In the rain of prayer, I find God’s presence and the fullness of life begins to grow. Breathe in His life, knowing He is the source of life.
I reached out my hand to help. The cycle of humility and sacrifice continued. At this moment, the hand-crafted God-sized lesson didn’t escape me.
