Thanks to everyone for who prayed for me. It is so encouraging to get a notice in my email indicating someone prayed for me. Blessings to all Chronic Joy prayer warriors. ~ Edna
You are invited to share your prayer requests and praises related to chronic illness to our Prayer Pond using the form below. Once your note is received, we will share it according to your instructions. Feel free visit us often and share updates!
This is a praise report to share: Thank you all for praying for me with the cyst removal from my eyelid last week. The Eye Doctor was able to remove it, and all went relatively smoothly with no allergic reactions! What a blessing to feel the prayers lifting me up during the procedure and during the days that followed as my body recovered.

It's hard to know where to begin but, here goes! Recently, I had a heart stent inserted. I have been a diabetic for 40+ years now and may have contributed to my heart disease. It was also discovered that I have Gerd.
I sense now, my more intense problems are stemming from my inability to sleep and as a result, I cannot make good decisions, especially when it comes to diet. I have lost weight recently without any physical activity. I have also experienced a great deal of anxiety and depression.
I know our Father is with me. He reassures me of this even as I just recorded it here. I need His touch for my emotional and mental stresses. I have a wonderful group of prayer supporters at my church. I was privileged to spend 7 years in China as God's ambassador and have a great support group at the Chinese church here in America that I am privileged to be connected to.
I feel like my needs cover the wide range of emotional, spiritual and physical. Not sure what my next step or steps should be but I do know He knows my every need.
Please pray that I react to these enormous challenges as our Father would lead. Thank you so much prayer warriors!

Due to my chronic illness, I have had a bad flare and need God to restore me to baseline so I can care for my family. I feel so sad that I am sick so often and am missing out on precious times.

Update/Praise Reports: I have not found a job, but now I understand why, and God has given me peace about it. A more serious health problem has been uncovered that will probably require surgery, and I see the surgeon on November 6.
Thank you, Lord, that I have received gift funds to help get my van in better working order!
My doctor made an adjustment to my medication which has improved my depression and fatigue tremendously!
My pain is still present, but I handle it better now. Every day a bit different, and weather changes have started to cause more problems. But the Lord is with me always and I am learning how His grace is sufficient.
I am in the middle of an insurance change that will cost me more out-of-pocket for all medical services. Please pray that the doctors will allow me to pay in increments if the amount is more than I have available.

I'm 79, male, married almost 55 years, diagnosed with degenerative disc disease 2002, sleep apnea 2010, uveitis secondary ankylosing spondylitis 2012, opioid-induced mood disorder (2017), after my pain management physicians, prescribed high levels of oral morphine for 15 years for chronic pain, and congestive heart failure 2017. Last night was the 3rd night in the last 5 nights that I was up all night. When I don't get my sleep my chronic pain, nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath, depression, and anxiety increase exponentially. I was bedridden in 2002, 2003, worked 2005-2008 and forced to retire in 2009. Henri Nouwen and Scripture say that I'm/we're chosen, blessed, broken, given and called to live my/our life with deep inner joy and peace. I volunteer coach and mentor adolescents who have been diagnosed with one or more chronic diseases, attempted suicide one or more times and been in jail one or more times. Pray that I will be able to get more restorative sleep so I can resume my ministry. Thank you for your encouragement and prayers.
Thank God for Google and Chronic-Joy. I'm planning to start an online support group for adolescents suffering from chronic pain, chronic illness (invisible) and/or mental illness (opioid-induced) in January 2020 using your material. PS I inadvertently deleted my initial request.

I am having a small cyst removed from my eyelid this week at my Ophthalmologist's office. Could I ask you to pray that there would not be any side effects or reactions? My body reacts so easily to medications, and just 2 weeks ago, I had an allergic reaction to the cleansing wash that was used in preparation for a nerve block. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for teaching us how to pray:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:9-13
Thank You for showing us that we can lift up each need in our lives to You, and You will hear us. Lord, we admit that on some days our needs feel too heavy and too many to even be voiced. Help us to lay them before you, and to receive Your daily bread. Thank You that Your Kingdom will come, and Your perfect will be done in our lives. Help us to trust You, our Holy Lord.
In Your name we pray,

Thank you for those that You have given us to love:
"I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers." Ephesians 1:16
Thank you for their lives. Thank you for the ways that they have impacted our lives. And now we lift them before You, and ask that You would meet every need that weighs them down. Carry our loved ones through their hard days. Stir their hearts to be filled with thanksgiving for Your love also. We are flooded with the joy of being able to pray for those we love.
In the name of Your son, Jesus, we pray,

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the new life that you have brought to us:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Oh, help us during the days when we feel so weary and worn to remember that You have created us anew. Help us to lift our prayers for those we love to know the new life that is given from You also. Thank You for the washing clean that You have brought to us, the new way of living that You have won for us, and the new creation that You have woven into the deep places of our heart. Praise You for Your gift of life.
In Your name we pray,

Praise Rising Have you ever looked outside, breathed in the fresh air of God’s touch, and suddenly felt praise rising up from some unknown place inside you? Have you ever seen beauty that takes your breath away or felt another kind of praise overwhelming the dark places of your pain? There is something to be said for the hollow place inside us that's made to worship the One who made us. After...
Do you ever feel that this world, our world, is spinning off its axis? Someone just prayed for you. The hour was late, and I was feeling the weight of pain as I rushed to get ready to leave. Yet another medication, along with the disease itself, had caused strange side effects for me. But this time, the on-call nurse told me to get into the ER as soon as I could. This particular reaction was one to be taken very seriously. I sent off a few quick prayer...

Discover a spiritual path consisting of three stepping-stones: Solitude (learning not to be alone but to be alone with God); Silence (the discipline by which the inner fire of God is tended and kept alive); and Prayer (standing in the presence of God with the mind in the heart).
Ruth Haley Barton
Do you long for a deep, fundamental change in your life with God? Do you desire a greater intimacy with God? Spiritual disciplines are activities that open us to God's transforming love and the changes that only God can bring about in our lives. Dive deeply into understanding seven key disciplines along with practical ideas for weaving them into everyday life.
Through studying the lives of Elijah and Elisha (1 Kings 17-19 and parts of 2 Kings), readers will be challenged to pray bold prayers rather than settle for meek prayers not offered in deep faith. Readers will learn to cultivate their prayer lives, surrender to God's timing, and plan and persist when prayers seem to go unanswered.
Christians are taught in their churches and schools that prayer is the most powerful way to experience God. But few receive instruction or guidance in how to make prayer genuinely meaningful. In Prayer, renowned pastor Timothy Keller delves into the many facets of this everyday act.
