Thanks to everyone for who prayed for me. It is so encouraging to get a notice in my email indicating someone prayed for me. Blessings to all Chronic Joy prayer warriors. ~ Edna

I am 48 years old. One week before Thanksgiving I began having very noticeable and different than normal health issues which prompted me to be checked by my Family Physician. Preliminary tests are suggestive of cirrhosis of the liver. I've only consumed alcohol on rare occasion (less than 3-4 times a year). Since hearing this news, I've learned that cirrhosis can be caused by many other things than alcohol and immediately began lifestyle changes that are necessary for this diagnosis. I am waiting for more definitive tests to be run and the results of them. I'm very restricted in daily activities, tasks for and with my family due to my symptoms. I am afraid of the unknown and not being around for my family.

This prayer has been answered!
I have another urgent request for a friend with severe, advanced Rheumatoid Arthritis. Would you please pray for my friend Lisa, a retired missionary who lives in Finland now. She is having emergency surgery on Monday for a broken leg and the repair of her hip prosthesis after she fell early Sunday. Please pray for guidance for the surgeons and extra strength for Lisa to be able to heal from this major surgery.

Please pray for my friend Sherriann who has advanced Rheumatoid Arthritis and Stills Disease. Both diseases have affected her heart, lungs, and liver so that the Doctors have little hope for her. She has almost died several times, but the Lord has pulled her through. Would you pray that her body would respond to treatment? Her husband, Nick, is also bearing a heavy load as he cares for her. Thank you so much for all of your prayers.

My mom went to the hospital because she was sick since Thanksgiving. She couldn't eat and was in pain.
We took her to the hospital and we stayed two days, Christmas eve and Christmas day. They drained 7 pounds of fluids from her stomach.
She and I are currently home waiting for the results of the fluids. The doctors suspect her cancer has returned.
My mom is a four time cancer survivor.
Please pray for God to intervene.

Please pray for me (mentally/physically). My anxiety is causing me a lot of problems and has lowered my quality of life. I also have chronic illness which makes me scared to leave the house, try anything different, or even eat sometimes. Plus, I feel physically unwell even on a car ride. I need this torment to stop so I can enjoy my life in peace. Thank you, in advance, for praying.

This is an update to the prayer request I just sent a few moments ago for my friend Gayl Wright. Her son, Stephen, is in the presence of Jesus now. Please pray for the entire family as they grieve this heavy loss.

This is an urgent request for my friend, Gayl Wright. Her son with Muscular Dystrophy took a turn for the worst, and he had to be rushed to the hospital on Wednesday evening with Congestive Heart Failure. Tonight they almost lost him, and have now moved him to ICU. Please pray for God to intervene and cover them all with His grace. Thank you for your prayers!

I have a young friend, she’ll be 12 the end of December who was just diagnosed with diabetes. Pray for her and her family as they make the adjustments that this journey requires. Thank you.

This is an update and praise report on my sister-in-law Joyce. Back in May, I asked for prayer because she had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. She was on several rounds of chemo all summer and fall before they could even operate. Today she had surgery to remove the tumor, and the surgeon reported that all of her lymph nodes are clear, with no spreading cancer. Praise God! She is in recovery now and will need several weeks to recuperate. Thank you so much for all of your prayers!

Would you like to offer a kind word, encouragement, an inspiring quote, or prayer to a fellow chronic illness traveller? On hard days when it seems almost impossible to take one more step, sometimes it soothes the spirit to extend ourselves a bit. Writing a note to a fellow traveller could be just that.
And it’s simple to do!
Stop by the Prayer Pond and as you read through the requests, when God tugs at your heart, pause and pray, then consider writing a note, card or letter to encourage that person too.
Who do you know that you could bless with a note of encouragement? Ask God who you could send a little #PenToPaper love, then just write from the heart – a scripture verse, an inspiring quote, a prayer, and/or a few few short sentences to brighten someone’s day. Do you ever feel that this world, our world, is spinning off its axis? If you have received an email or card mailed to you this month from the Chronic Joy Prayer Pond, you might have received this verse included with your note: “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” Psalm 46:7 It is a verse that has been on repeat in my heart through these many weeks of turmoil. Someone just prayed for you. The hour was late, and I was feeling the weight of pain as I rushed to get ready to leave. Yet another medication, along with the disease itself, had caused strange side effects for me. But this time, the on-call nurse told me to get into the ER as soon as I could. This particular reaction was one to be taken very seriously. I sent off a few quick prayer...
Leading Are you someone who enjoys planning your calendar weeks and months ahead? My days used to be full that way. Oh, I still have a digital calendar where I keep track of important appointments. But ever since chronic illness came upon the scene, I am much better at keeping a “To-Done-List” (no matter how small it might seem,) instead of a “To-Do-List.” When the days ahead seem to be...

Discover a spiritual path consisting of three stepping-stones: Solitude (learning not to be alone but to be alone with God); Silence (the discipline by which the inner fire of God is tended and kept alive); and Prayer (standing in the presence of God with the mind in the heart).
Ruth Haley Barton
Do you long for a deep, fundamental change in your life with God? Do you desire a greater intimacy with God? Spiritual disciplines are activities that open us to God’s transforming love and the changes that only God can bring about in our lives. This book takes you more deeply into understanding seven key disciplines along with practical ideas for weaving them into everyday life.
Christians are taught in their churches and schools that prayer is the most powerful way to experience God. But few receive instruction or guidance in how to make prayer genuinely meaningful. In Prayer, renowned pastor Timothy Keller delves into the many facets of this everyday act.
This collection of short stories, reflections, and poems from Jill Briscoe centers on the theme of our relationship with God, and how that relationship must be our daily priority in good times and bad.
