“Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10

Above all, maintain constant love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins.
Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Just as each one has received a gift,
use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

(1 Peter 4:8-10 CSB)

In this issue of Oasis of Hope, we look at some of the special days of the month. There are many, but we will focus on some of those related to art and creativity, including World Art Day, World Creativity and Innovation Day, and National Handmade Day.

You may wonder how art and creativity relate to chronic illness or to hope. Have you ever received a handmade gift or a handwritten note that encouraged you and gave you hope? Did someone cook a meal for you when you were sick or overwhelmed with caregiving?

Maybe you think you are not creative in any way, but think again! You might be surprised. Drawing and painting are obvious forms of art, but what about writing, cooking, or photography? We may find many ways to be creative if we think out of the box a little. The articles shared in this issue include some forms of art and creativity that may not have occurred to you.

We Are All Artists suggests that everyone is an artist in some way. Our Creative Sparks page offers many ideas to get you started. There is also a post on how faith inspires creativity as well as a newsletter detailing many creative tools and ideas you can access right from our website. Did you know that creative gifts can be used to serve and encourage others? One of the articles even includes a recipe to be shared.

We hope these articles encourage you and help you find ways to develop art and creativity in your own lives. May you gain much hope and encouragement as you read, link, and perhaps even attempt something new.

Creative Sparks • Be Brave. Be Curious. Create!

Creative Sparks

BE BRAVE. BE CURIOUS. CREATE! Though few of us would call ourselves creative, that amazing grace-gift is woven straight into our DNA. As we engage with God, He ignites our curiosity, waking us to wonder and the joy of possibility.

We Are All Artists

My life is my art, and I express it every single day. God had created an artist within me. It just looked different than other artists.

"God, the creator of art, the ultimate artist--endless in creativity, design, and ideas--led me down a winding road to find the artist hiding inside my soul." Renee Robinson

Creative Gifts: Using Our Talents to Serve Others

Serving others by giving almost comes naturally to me, because my mother set a good example. She loved making things for others, and it gave her great joy. God has given me opportunities to share my creative gifts with others over the past few years. Not only do the receivers appreciate the gifts, but I find joy.

"When we use our talents to give creative gifts to others, we are also richly blessed." Gayl Wright

Inventive Hospitality • Simple Touches Speak Great Love

All we needed was a nearby comfortable place to rest but we were overwhelmed at the size of the double suite prepared for us above the chapel. In the refrigerator were plates of quiche and pumpkin pancakes. There were apples, jam, orange juice, milk, and so much more. Simple touches to show love to us.

"Sometimes it's the simplest touches that speak the greatest love." Sandra Heska King
